To Target the Soul
An example of my writing from this class is as follows:
Discussion 9: Can Israel Survive Without a Palestinian State? Dec 7, 2012 9:57am
(Self-written Poem)
~ ~ ~
Settlements interfering
A semi-state again leary
For fearsome ties
Now the peak presides
From farmers to land
And now the pitiful sand
Under a wall and a hope--
We recycle our water soap
A non-voter body of “terrors”
The Israelis ignorant of errors
Committed on their part
For they aim for the heart
No, not a superpower
But now choke-blood tasting sour
“The war of the Jews being waged today”
A struggle for power just to claim
The Promised Land with a bitter name
Synagogues and anti-balance
Restrictions and Sabbath and half-silence
Religious laws filled with spite
Under the guise of Jewish plight
Propaganda Kosher materials
Even something simple like cereal
Palestine the certain subtle swine
For the West Bank and none to thank this time
“Whose Israel is it?” they say
While the other side has gone astray
Poison to roaches in the folds
Of Muslim burkas decades old
Peace a distant piece of fleece
To warm the night, the cold increased
The Two-State Solution
An unresolved absolution
Israeli soldiers now occupy
The homes of the Palis dissatisfied
But forced by guns and hidden agendas
Made apparent by limits and referenda
“The highest house on the highest hill”
A City as a beacon for non-invites still
“Herds of cattle” and infestation
Palestinian prayers for a new nation
Pessimism a doubtless result
But treaties exist to a line of fault
“The purpose of life is to serve God”
The Fundamentalist proclaims to a mob
“Thieves in saint’s clothing” dark and drab
Gaza Strip and West Bank for the land grab
“The Army is not the only thing
That has saved Jewish existence” rings
True to form for a state to collapse
Civil battles a mental-Torah lapse
“God would not defend the Jews in the Holocaust”
But what about the Palestinians at such a cost?
The “P” needs to achieve statehood for the “I”
To keep the Israelis in check, in Abraham’s eye.
